[Event Showcase] Battle Pass Reward Tanks

Updated: Sep 19, 2022

The World of Tanks Battle Pass gives players opportunity to collect many in-game assets to nudge their grind along, including Tier IX Reward Vehicles unique to Battle Pass. This article will showcase those Reward Vehicles by way of a quick summary and some exemplary gameplay (where available on the channel), however if you'd like to know more then please follow the links to the articles on this this website where I have reviewed some of these vehicles in detail. It is important to remember that these vehicles are Reward Vehicles, not Premium Vehicles. This means that while they will provide increased yield of Combat EXP and Crew EXP and can take on unspecialised crew members without penalty, they do not produce the additional credit yield enjoyed by Premium Tanks. Note that a feature unique to the Battle Pass Reward Vehicles is a free Large Repair Kit, so this is a potential consumables saving of 20,000 Credits per Battle that would not otherwise be enjoyed by a Tech Tree or Premium Tier IX vehicle.

This article is current up to the start of Battle Pass Season VII

AE Phase 1 - Current Cost: 9x Battle Pass Tokens

This American Heavy Tank first entered the game as a season reward for the Frontlines game mode in 2019, but was made exchangeable for Battle Pass tokens at the outset of Battle Pass Season I. A highly dependable turret coupled with 10° of gun depression and tiny cupola weakspot (which is at worst protected by 225mm of effective armour) makes AE Phase 1 ideal for ridgeline work. While 258mm penetration on Standard AP is highly adequate for tier, the ability to switch to a HEAT shell with 340mm penetration keeps this vehicle a relevant wherever it goes. The vehicle is not without its drawbacks however, noting the vehicle has a weak hull and a large bulge below the turret ring that prevents it from side-scraping effectively. Aim time and gun disperson might also be considered sub-par when engaging beyond medium ranges or when trying to shoot out weakpoints against hull-down enemies on an opposing ridge. Check out this AE Phase 1 live replay reaction, in an extremely tight finish sandwiched between Tier VIII's and X's

Char Futur 4 - Current Cost: 9x Battle Pass Tokens Char Futur 4 entered the game as part of the "Expedition" series, where players could redeem the tank by spending tokens earned through participating in seasonal game modes such as Frontlines and Steel Hunter. It entered the Battle Pass lineup from Season I. Autoloading destruction is the aim of Char Futur 4's game, able to unleash a 1,560HP burst of four 105mm shells in the space of 12 seconds. This represents quite a long intra-clip reload, so players will either need to trade carefully or make use of cover and/or mobility to minimise damage from return fire between shots. Decent penetration of 268mm with Standard AP is readily upgradeable to a highly versatile 330mm with Premium HEAT shells, however the thin armour of the vehicle means avoiding head-to-head fights. A deadly flanker and anti-scout, Char Futur 4 excels at plucking out enemy eyes in the early game, wearing them down in the mid-game and cleaning up in the late-game. We have a couple of replays available showcasing exemplary use of Char Futur 4's mobility and firepower to seize initiative on Highway from bottom-tiered and Erlenberg with a mix from Tier-VIII's to Tier-X's

Cobra - Inferred Cost: 24x Battle Pass Tokens (TBA) - Still in Development

K-91-PT - Current Cost: 12x Battle Pass Tokens Entering the Battle Pass lineup in Season IV, K-91-PT brings a unique playstyle with its high mobility, monstrous damage output but a "chalk-and-cheese" armour layout that requires a good read of the battlefield and team-mates to work out how to deploy correctly. The well-armoured casemate can confidently shrug off most incoming fire from Standard Rounds, however the roof deck and frontal plates are distinct weak areas. In a brawl, you can rely on your forward and rotational mobility to get into a position to facehug to hide your weaker frontal plates, but using battlefield cover such as the charred hulks of your friends or enemies will often prove a less risky endeavour.

Lorraine 50 t - Current Cost: 18x Battle Pass Tokens - Gameplay Pending

The newest entrant to the Battle Pass lineup debuting in Season VII, Lorraine 50 t carries an great combination of armour, firepower and mobility. Its 120mm main armament is reliable in terms of alpha, penetration and accuracy, and facilitates highly effective hull-down play with 10° of gun depression. 2.88s aim time is on the painful side, but the turret facing of 320mm at its thinnest will allow you to be patient in dialling in your shots from an exposed position. Damage per minute is probably the most remarkable let-down of this vehicle at 1,788HP/min, but its gameplay is otherwise user-friendly such that you might consider it a more agile version of the Premium Tier VIII German Heavy Tank Lowe.

Kunze Panzer - Current Cost: 15x Battle Pass Tokens

The other entrant to the Battle Pass Season IV lineup, Kunze Panzer is the master of flexible play thanks to its ability to switch between fighting as a high-DPM racing machine or a patient and purposeful sniper. The vehicle lacks any meaningful armour, while the Premium HEAT shells lack punch for tier, therefore players must rely on its mobility to outpace enemies to the best spotting/sniping positions or relocate as the battle develops to deliver accurate flanking fire.

Object 777 Version II - Current Cost: 9x Battle Pass Tokens - Gameplay Pending

Another one of the original Battle Pass tanks after making its debut in the "Expedition" series, Obj. 777 II packs a great combination of armour and mobility, however the firepower side of the ledger requires some patience. The 122mm main armament lacks precision and is further frustrated by a long aim time, but its 258mm Standard AP penetration or 340mm Premium HEAT penetration are quite adequate for its tier and above. Obj.777 II's low profile and strong turret provide an effective armour layout, however a flat lower-frontal plate can present a large and obvious weakspot when you're on the move. Fortunately such is the profile of the vehicle that it doesn't take much of a battlefield obstacle to hide it, and a 40km/h forward speed will get you face-to-face with the enemy in a manner that can hide it by force if necessary.
